Walking into a big-city bridal mega-store can be overwhelming for the bride-to-be on the hunt for the perfect dress, as hundreds of gowns are packed into racks like sardines. At Something Blue, we believe in quality over quantity and we treat our dresses with the respect they deserve.

While we carry around 200 gorgeous, hand-selected gowns from several designers in the store every day, we hold trunk shows multiple times throughout the year to spotlight specific designers. Trunk shows typically run for a three-day period, Thursday through Saturday, and feature a designer’s latest collection. Something Blue will receive anywhere from 15 to 40 additional dresses for brides to preview and try on during the show.

Fashion director Rebekah Krsak said Something Blue has been hosting trunk shows since the store opened in 2012.

“When we go to bridal market we see so many dresses from every designer,” she said. “We obviously don’t buy every single one, but pick out what we think is best to carry in the store. Trunk shows allow us to have even more variety and it’s also the only time of the year we’re allowed to give discounts.”

For a bride who knows she loves a certain designer’s style, a trunk show is the perfect opportunity to see even more options from that season’s collection. But what if you’re not sure which designer “fits” you?

“Brides have two options to figure out who they like,” Krsak explained. “They can make an appointment to come in before the trunk shows and get a feel for who they really like. Usually brides will lean toward one designer or another because of the way the dresses fit, the overall style or the fabrics and laces they use.

“Of course they can always get online, check out the designers to see what they all have to offer and then figure out who they gravitate toward. That way they can come to the best trunk show for them, preview more options from their favorite designer and get a 10 percent discount on their full-priced dress during the show.”
