Bride of the Month–Our Very First!
Posted on 10/21/13
Kaysie Creech Eddleman will always have a special place at Something BLUE. We opened our doors in January, 2012 and nervously waited for our first customers to come in to shop. Kaysie was the very first bride to visit the store. She tried on gowns–to be honest, we didn’t have an extremely large number at that point. She found a dress that she loved and we registered her choice and she returned to college.
Time went by and other brides began shopping at our store and referring their friends to us. We sold our first wedding gowns and lots of prom dresses. Kaysie came back and ordered her dress–and we celebrated again our first bride to try on gowns! Kaysie chose a Casablanca gown of beautifully beaded re-embroidered Alencon lace. Her dress featured a classic Sabrina neckline and a dramatic sheer lace back with a chapel length train.
More time went by and the time came for Kaysie’s big day. She got married at Oakwind in Alvin on January 5, 2013.
I need to share a few general notes at this point. First of all, to make these posts a bit more “user-friendly” we have decided to follow a question and answer format…jammed packed with lots of beautiful wedding photos, of course! And secondly, all of the below photos were shared with us by Kaysie.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The most memorable moment of our wedding day was during the ceremony. Shortly after my dad gave me away, the pastor told Shayne and I to turn around and just look at all the people who came out to support us in the beginning of our journey together. It melted my heart to see all of our loved ones there- just for us. It was so nice to have a few moments just to take everything in.
If you could relive your day again, what would you do differently?
Our wedding day was perfect and the only thing I would change was something that was completely out of our control- the rain. We had an outdoor ceremony planned with the reception inside the barn. However, it rained the entire day. My only “regret” is that all of our photos had to be taken inside. The grounds at Oakwind are beautiful and I love sunshine so it was disappointing to miss out on that.
What advice would you give to future brides?
My advice to future brides would be to decide what things are a priority and what are not. Pinterest gives us unreasonable expectations of what our wedding should look like, so pick the things that are most important to you. Also, when your big day arrives trust all the planning and preparations you have done and allow yourself to relax and enjoy every second of it! A good day-of coordinator will make this easy to do!
